The crypto narrative has been centered around L1 chain infrastructure. Technically speaking, L1 chains have made breakthroughs in consensus mechanisms and programmability. L1 chains still face development bottlenecks today, including performance that isn’t comparable to Web2 infrastructure or insufficient demand. Numerous new L1 chains emerged in the first half of 2022. They were highlighted by heated discussions about “modularity” or “cross-chain.” The three L1 chains that were derived from “Diem”, Aptos, Sui, and Linera won the second half. The following five aspects are used to discuss the benefits and innovations of the “Diem” L1 chain in terms of technology, ecosystem, and design.
- These are the three main benefits and features of the new Move language
- Parallel solutions
- Innovation and difficulty in establishing consensus mechanisms.
- Exploratory development in tokenomics
- Trends in dedicated L1 chains and dApp chains
